January sunset at Rhossili

I suppose the iconic image of sunset at Rhossili, is a burnished globe above Worm's Head, in a sky streaked with amber and magenta tones. I've never been lucky enough to capture such an image, mainly because I've never fancied walking back along the cliffs, alone, at nightfall.

I was able, in January 2006, to capture a lovely sunset, but didn't do it justice, as I was still finding my away around a new camera. And it was so cold, with a gale force wind threatening to blow me and the camera over the cliff edge.

Despite their technical shortfalls, I'm quite fond of the images I captured which show the old coastguard hut silhouetted on the horizon.

Images which simply feature glowing clouds and the setting sun, make me think of paintings by mystics such as William Blake. I half-expect some mythical figure to suddenly reach out from the clouds.

Back down to earth, here's a brooding, slightly sinister shot, with rolling storm clouds, a fiery sun, and menacing barbed wire clawing skywards.
